Win Exclusive Passes to the Queensland Expo and Audrey Collins Tour!

UTP Tickets

The weeks are flying by, and that means our Queensland Expo and the Audrey Collins Tour is just over two weeks away. And we have got something very special for you.

We’re giving away passes!

It’s true … and these are exclusive PLATINUM, GOLD and SILVER passes that are not available to purchase. The only way you can get yourself one of these little babies is by winning it.

We are giving away:

For the Queensland Expo

  • 1 x PLATINUM PASS – gives you free entry to the Queensland Expo, and unlimited admission to the talks over the whole three days of the event.
  • 5 x SILVER PASSES – gives you free admission to one talk of your choice at the Queensland Expo.

For the Audrey Collins Seminars

  • 3 x GOLD PASSES (One for each venue) – this gives the winner free admission to the Audrey Collins Tour in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne.

To be in the running for these free passes, tell us “specifically” what you are looking forward to at the events. It could be hearing a particular topic, or speaker, or seeing a certain exhibitor, or hopefully getting a brickwall knocked down with help from those in the Research Help Zone, or even the prizes on offer.

Please respond below (or on our Unlock the Past facebook wall – click here) with your answer, together with advice of whether it is the Expo or Tour that you will be attending. Please respond by 5pm Friday 15 June. All entries will go into a draw. Winners will be notified on Monday 18 June. With passes to be emailed and express posted the same day.

Note: if you have already booked you are still able to enter. If you win, the entry fee you have paid will be refunded.

Northern IRELAND

I have Rossbothams and hear they are really strong OrangeMen?

Would really love some help.

Free Tickets Brisbane EXPO

This will be my very first EXPO! I have not attended an event such as this and it is such a delight to know that, there is help and likeminded people who have the information and the know how to help. I have been researching my family history for over 3 years now and there are many things that I still need help with and I am hoping to pick up some specific resources that really are not available in your average library and bookstore. I have all three days of work so I hope to basically see as many as the presentations as I can, And I am looking forward to seeing Audrey Collins, as I hear that is not one to miss.

Looking for help tracing my roots and my living relatives in Scotland and Ireland and now it seems Wales also. Some more information on where to look for additional information on my ancestors from Northern Germany.

The DNA conference I wish to sit in for and I think that it will also lend some new ways to prove or disprove those family rumours.

Looking forward to meeting other festival goers and perhaps family members! you never know!

My first Expo. Hoping to find ways other than internet to trace family.

Win passes to EXPO

I am relatively new to family history searching and this will be my first Expo. What I most want to achieve there is to see(maybe meet) Cassie Mercer and hear her talk as I have an Ireland to Winton branch in my family. The Irish Wattle books have been a great help in my research and she answered all my e-mails to "Inside History". I am really looking forward to everything at the EXPO.

Passes to Qld Exp - Soaking up the knowledge!

Give way signs! Not brick walls, because I am sure by attending the talks given by these amazing people I will be able to continue on the road to find those elusive ratbags from my family. 30 years of research and I still cannot find the "true" story of my grandfathers birth, was his sister his mother? was it his "Aunt"? And what about the mysterious "Sirrus" man who may, or may not, be my great grandfathers biological father? I am determined before I pass to know more of these skeletons in my closet, and what better way to do learn that by listening to and talking with these amazing people who have also dedicated their lives to the love of our family histories.

Was his sister really his mother?

As a child in Scotland 50 years ago, many times after mum and I had visited a neighbour or acquaintance and been introduced to the family's new baby, mum would say after we left, "That's nae her bairn, that's her lassie's". So yes, many families did pass off a teenager's illegitimate child as their own. Who the child's registered mother would be, I have no idea.

Win Exclusive Passes to the Queensland Expo and Audrey Collins

I am very excited to be attending the Expo and talks on the Tuesday because it is the first genealogy event I will have attended. I can't wait to hear tips and tricks from the presenters, check out the Expo and hopefully meet some of the geneabloggers I have come to know virtually over the past couple of years. Did I say I was excited??

Win Passes

I thoroughly enjoyed the expo in 2011 and would love the win one of the passes.

Freewheeling ahead after the Expo I hope!

I can't find my great-great-grandmother in 1891. She returned to England but, from my point of view, has disappeared into thin air! I'll be attending as many sessions as I can in the hope of knocking down this brick wall! I've already booked to attend the Expo and am really looking forward to it. A free pass for some sessions wouldn't go astray! Here's hoping!

Unlock the past Expo

This will be my first ever geneology conference and I'm really excited. I just want to soak in every bit of knowledge that I can and hopefully break down those seemingly insurmountable brick walls I have in my family tree.

Free pass

I am really looking forward to this event, and the opportunities to not only hear great presenters, but also to meet and mingle with family and local historians. It would be great to win a free pass to a presentation on behalf of my elderly mother, who counts every penny but would love to be able to attend something she otherwise would miss out on.

Thanks to the organisers.

Win Exclusive Passes to the Queensland Expo and Audrey Collins

I am looking forward with delight to visiting all the exhibitors' booths to evaluate which tools to deploy in the next step forward for my research. Particularly of interest will be genealogical courses and other subscription websites in addition to Ancestry to evaluate what they have to offer that Ancestry does not. Also talks by experts, such as how to get one's book published, aids to writing one's family history, how to break down brick walls and locate the needles in the haystacks. There will be a plethora of relevant information to serve my addiction of dispelling the mists and shedding light onto the mysteries of the past. There will be guides to discovering even more mysteries and aids towards eventually being able to behold my ancestors with wondrous clarity as I reverently brush the dust of obscurity from their resting places in the dark silence of the centuries and, with the assistance of today's technology, respectfully reconstruct their lives. I do so not only for the affinity and joy it affords me but also hopefully to aid and benefit those of their as yet unborn descendants also destined to become drawn into this fascinating study. This is a golden opportunity to open Pandora's Family History box and I am already counting the sleeps to the opening of this exciting exhibition.

Unlockthepast Brisbane Expo

After having such a great time while attending the 2011 Unlockthepast cruise, I'm looking forward to the Brisbane Expo. With such an exceptional array of quality speakers, I will be attending as many talks as possible, specifically to break down the brick walls which are preventing the discovery of the whereabouts of my great grandfather's brother after his arrival at Moreton Bay in 1873.

Win passes to Queensland Expo

I've just relocated from New South Wales to Queensland and would love to be able to meet some wonderful people from Queensland to help me chase down my Queensland ancestors... They've proved to be elusive so far, and I'd love to to be able to break down some of their walls.

Win Passes to Qld Expo

Hopefully Judy Webster's talk on "Black Sheep & Vanishing Relatives" will help me find my gggrandparents who migrated to South Australia, had children & then vanished.

Fingers Crossed for the Platinum!

Hoping and wishing to find ways to do family research better, cheaper and more accurately with all of the juicy details, scandals, heartbreak and happiness and richness included. I hope that the expo will give me new tricks and tips that can keep the piggy bank relatively full and help to knock down some of those nasty brick walls which currently keep my work at a standstill. I want something more than dates and numbers, I hope that the expo and its various speakers will be able to help me better understand the history of my people and the places and times they lived in so that I can know where to look. Specifically interested in the Photography research and what can be learnt from the humble family portrait, finding out ways to record and write oral histories, researching my Scottish and Welsh lines and my German Ancestors who came and settled and mined all over Queensland it seems and DNA! Then of course, How to choose, which seminars to go to?

Queensland Expo

Looking forward to seeing all the special things that I am sure Goulds will be displaying. I hope to solve a few mysteries too. I have already booked!

Win Passes to Queensland Expo

I am greatly looking forward to winning a pass to the Queensland Expo as I am unable to afford to purchace tickets as well as take time off work to attend. I have come to a standstill on my research as it appears to now costs money to advance, and I would like to find out if there are any tricks without the cost.

Win Pass to Audrey in Melbourne

What do I want to find out? Everything! Every tiny bit of information helps. Brickwalls can be knocked down in amazing and unexpected ways. Audrey's talk will no doubt be one of them.

win pass to audrey in Melbouren

Always something new to learn and the opportunity of hearing from one of the leading archivists too good to miss

Scandinavian Genealogy

Will spread information about how to trace ancestors from the Scandinavian countries. Will also sell books about emigration from Scandinavia.

Win Exclusive Passes to the Queensland Expo and Audrey Collins

I am really looking forward to the Unlock the Past Expo to expand my knowledge of genealogy and perhaps break down my brick walls. I plan to attend as many presentations as possible in the time available.

Win Exclusive Passes to the Queensland Expo and Audrey Collins T

I plan to travel to Brisbane (from Northern NSW) to specifically discover how I am able to research my maternal grandfather's activities (Army unit; battles on the Western Front in which his unit participated and any other relevant information). This detail has been very difficult for me to uncover and I am hoping that someone in the Research Help Zone at the Queensland Expo will set me on the right path!I will not be able to attend any of the Tour programs, so am only interested in the Queensland Expo. Here's to a little bit of luck towards winning one of the free passes!
