Langi Morgala Museum which holds a large and varied social history collection was opened on 23rd October 1970 and is managed by volunteers of the Ararat & District Historical Society.
The large collection covers a wide variety of themes of local importance and includes objects from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, made up largely of donations by individuals within the Ararat district, many displayed under glass in cabinets and larger items on open display, including four themed rooms housing domestic displays. Larger exhibits of machinery are displayed outside.
The Museum also houses the largest collection of Aboriginal artifacts in Victoria, and in its Commonwealth coin collection exhibits a rare 1603 James I Silver Shilling.
