Situated on the picturesque banks of the Little Murray River, you can embrace the past with the feeling that you have stepped back in time at The Pioneer Settlement.
From the 1850s pioneer cottages, to the paddle-steamer Gem to the Mallee Township, you can wander at leisure in a bygone world experiencing real Australian history at Pioneer Settlement.

The Paragon Café provides delicious Devonshire teas to visitors, whilst in the main street the sounds of the music shop Pianola blend with the horses' hooves and laughter of tourists enjoying free horse and cart rides.

Complimentary vintage car rides are also available, proving a popular way for visitors to absorb the sights offered. It is a great way to see Towaninnie Homestead complex. Made from drop logs, this homestead is typical Mallee homestead of the 1880s, with Mallee root fences, mud brick kitchen and half cellar dairy.
Further along, past Riversdale and Keats Cottages, is the Lower Murray Inn with its welcoming atmosphere.

With arms full of old fashioned lollies from Sparkes and Perkins General Store, and Wanted Posters from The Echo Print Shop, you can watch the blacksmith hard at work; wander the Golden Harvest Trail; or marvel at the array of operating heritage machinery in the industrial area.

Add to your visit a cruise aboard the paddle steamer PS Pyap; or dress up in costume for a family photograph using your own camera or device. End your day with our new Laser, Fire and Water spectacular - Heartbeat of the Murray; winner of First Prize in the International Laser Design Association multi-media show category. There’s so much to see and do you’ll be grateful that the entrance ticket has a complimentary second day’s entry included.
