The aim of this association is;
To promote and encourage the study of Genealogy and to assist those who are interested in tracing their Family ancestry and history.
Other sources that are also available include Births, Deaths and Marriage indexes, Assisted Migration and Shipping Records to name a few, along with other CD’s and Microfiche where information can be also be obtained in researching Family Members and History. The research information available in our Library covers not only the Wimmera but also Victoria, Interstate and Overseas.
Projects
The Association is building a comprehensive name index, listing references to Families and their descendants, and covering not only the local district but also the wider area of the Wimmera region in Western Victoria.
Also available to researchers are the Associations transcriptions of burials in the 92 Cemeteries covering the Wimmera and surrounding areas.
Interests
It was the first Genealogical Group established in regional and rural Victoria. Although affiliated with the Genealogical Society of Victoria, it operates as an Independent, Incorporated Association.
