Stephanie Ryan, Dr Jennifer Harrison, Suzanne Voytas

Stephanie Ryan has been the Senior Librarian in Family History at the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) for over 17 years. She is an authority on family history and has expert knowledge of the holdings of SLQ.
Finding Convicts: Overview and SLQ Resources: Convicts in Australia — Stephanie’s presentation will cover the numbers of convicts, where
they came to, and where to search including SLQ sources.

Dr Jennifer Harrison is an internationally renowned research historian and academic. Dr Harrison is a prominent lecturer on family, local, and applied history , with particular expertise in convict origins and migration trends.
Constructing Convict Lives — Jennifer’s presentation will cover where the convicts came from, petitions, pardons, secondary punishments, family reunions,
and integration after 1840.

Suzanne Voytas, an experienced family historian, holds a Diploma in Family Historical Studies from the Society of Australian Genealogists. She has researched the female convicts aboard the Elizabeth, which arrived in Sydney in 1828.
The Voyage of the Elizabeth — Suzanne’s research provided many clues to explain why some people just materialised in the colony. If you have an ancestor who just appeared perhaps some of Suzanne's clues may help you.
