Dragon Tails 2011: 2nd Australasian conference on overseas Chinese history & heritage
Dragon Tails 2011: sources, language, approaches
2nd Australasian conference on overseas Chinese history & heritage
Location: Museum of Chinese Australian History
22 Cohen Place, Melbourne Victoria
Following the success of the first Dragon Tails conference in October 2009, Dragon Tails 2011 will explore the diverse range of sources for Chinese Australian history, including Chinese-language materials, and highlight the fresh approaches being used to interrogate them.
It will be a forum for discussion about the current state of the field of Chinese Australian history, the challenges researchers face and the ways we might continue to improve our understanding of Australia’s Chinese pasts (c.1840s–1940s).
As part of this discussion, the conference will engage Australian researchers with current international scholarship. Arrangements for international keynote/s are underway.
