Family History Lunchtime Series: Caring for family archives
This year Central City Library continues to offer its free family history lunchtime series designed to introduce you to the enormous range of researching tools and technologies available at Auckland City Libraries. The workshops are held every second Wednesday until the end of October, and focus on family and local history topics.
Caring for family archives
The most precious things many of us own are the items which document our family history. These may include birth, death and marriage certificates, letters, postcards, school reports, photographs and books.
David Ashman, Auckland City Libraries’ Preservation Manager, provides simple and inexpensive steps you can take to preserve your family archive and prevent unnecessary damage and deterioration. The session will include appropriate packaging, storage and handling techniques. You will discover where to find more information and who to consult if you have damaged items which require repairs or conservation.
