The Australia From First Fleet Special Interest Group of The Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra Inc (HAGSOC) had its first meeting on Sunday 22 May 2011.

 

In 2012 the Group will be meeting at 2 pm  in the Society’s Education Room at the Cook Community Hub, 41 Templeton Street, Cook, ACT 2613 on 29 January and threafter on the fourth Sunday of , March, May, July, September and November (ie, each odd month) .  

 

Some of the topics that we hope to cover in the future are:  Colonial Secretary records;   education;  goldfields;  immigration;  newspapers;  land records;  the Australian Joint Copying Project - just to name a few.

 

Membership is open to all current members of the Society and all are welcome. If you are interested, come along and join the Group. You will be most welcome.

 

At the meeting of the Group on Sunday 29 January 2012 our speaker will be Elizabeth Smith and her topic will be:  Diary (by William Adams) of the voyage of the Victory in 1855.
