Ann Rutte, a descendant of a Netherby shipwreck survivor, is organising a 150th year celebration to be held on King Island in 2016.
Ann Rutte has been aided by fellow Netherby researcher, Karina Taylor who has a website dedicated to the Netherby. (www.netherby.homestead.com).

The Netherby departed East India Dock, London on 1 April 1866 and Plymouth on 13 April 1866 bound for Brisbane, ut was wrecked near King island on 14 July 1866. Amazingly, all the passengers survived and there are reports that a lady gave birth to twins soon after reaching shore.

There were 500 surviviors, and establishing contact with their descendants could take some time. If you descended from a Netherby survivor, or know someone who is, please contact Ann Rutte.
