The Huguenot Society is pleased to launch their new publication - A New Tapestry: Australian Huguenot Families

Written by the members of our society and tells the stories, in some cases right back to the 17th century, of families which would eventually make their homes here in Australia. These stories cover the whole range of Huguenot and Australian history, and include families from England and Ireland (as you would expect) but also from Germany the Netherlands, India and the West Indies. They cover the whole social spectrum, from Governors of colonies to humble convicts, some of whom ‘made good.’ You will find here accounts of the difficulties and tragedies of pioneer life (storms, suicide, murder, and infant mortality) as well as remarkable triumphs in the face of considerable odds.
Putting this book together over a period of two years has been a considerable task in itself: it contains 31 chapters, covering 30 families, written by 35 different authors. But we hope it will stand as a fitting monument to the men and women of Huguenot descent who have made their homes here.
The book is available to purchase for $40 plus $10 postage & packing to the general public.

Refreshments will be served.

All welcome.
