On 16 October 1837, the sailing ship Solway, under Captain R Pearson, berthed at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. This was at the end of
the journey begun on 3 June that year from Hamburg in Germany. This year marks the 175th anniversary of that landing. To celebrate
the occasion, we aim the reunite the descendants of families who arrived in South Australia on the 1837 votage.
Planning is in progress for a function on Saturday 13 October, Sunday 14 October and Tuesday 16 October, to be held in Kingscote.
Tentative plans are for registration and an evening dinner on Saturday, and a church service and luncheon on Sunday, and a ceremony
at Reeves Point on Tuesday to mark the landing.
Accommodation is limited, so if you wish to join in, please make your bookings as soon as possible, including the Sealink ferry if you want
to come by car.
