Writing Family History Made Very Easy with Noeline Kyle
The seductive task of collecting more dates, names, obituaries and other data associated with our family histories - the piling up of the hundreds of documents until they spill will-nilly from our homes/offices/computers - is the collect until you drop syndrome! Yes, it is great to find that elusive piece of information. But at some time you need to lift your head from that pile of data and think about how, where and in what way you will write and publish the family history, that memoir you have been thinking about for some time or the story of your journey through life/Mexico/the Antarctic. Noeline Kyle will talk about strategies to get you to the desk and writing, and will provide practical ideas from her own writing and her work with supporting family historians for more than 30 years. In this workshop you will learn how to identify and choose a format for writing family stories, understand and apply strategies to plan and create your characters, construct chapters and apply the basics of writing/rewriting, editing and planning a text.
